Grace Jones to release first album in nearly two decades*

Grace Jones will release an album of new material this October.

Released on October 29 and entitled 'Hurricane', the record will be the iconic star's first since she released 'Bulletproof Heart' in 1989.

Jones produced the new collection herself, alongside Ivor Guest. The record features guest appearances from Brian Eno and Sly And Robbie.

Jones recently (June 19) made a live comeback, playing a critically acclaimed set at Royal Festival Hall as part of the Massive Attack-curated Meltdown Festival.

Star Alba has her baby girl - report

It is reported that Jessica Alba has given birth to a baby girl in Los Angeles.
US Weekly magazine says that Alba and husband Cash Warren became parents at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center over the weekend.
Alba and Warren were married at the Beverly Hills courthouse on 19 May.
The couple met on the set of 'Fantastic Four' in 2004; Alba was starring in the film while Warren was working as a director's assistant.

Matthew McConaughey lured by free deoderant

Matthew McConaughey has been sent a year’s supply of deodorant.

US company Axe sent the 38-year-old actor - who recently revealed he “never uses deodorant” - enough of their new pocket-sized body spray to last him a year, because they want him to keep his pregnant girlfriend, model Camila Alves.

A letter to the actor read: “We know that you already have a stunning girl in Camila Alves. But in a survey we recently conducted, nearly nine out of 10 girls (89 per cent) told us that they would turn down a guy because he smelled bad - no matter how in-shape or successful he is.

“We read that you ‘never use deodorant' and we sure want you to keep Camila around, so we've enclosed a one year supply of the new AXE Bullet, the first pocket-sized deodorant body spray for guys.

"We know that you're always on-the-go and like to travel light, so this handy little gadget should fit perfectly into your active lifestyle!”

Matthew and Camila, who have been dating for over a year, are currently expecting their first child.

Grammy Museum Announces December Grand Opening

The grand opening of the new Grammy museum in downtown Los Angeles has been set for Dec. 3-7, to culminate The Recording Academy's milestone 50th celebration year. The grand opening celebration will feature numerous activities including a media day and VIP reception, a gala fundraising concert, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring music throughout the day on the Nokia Plaza, according to a press release.Each of the four floors of the 32,000 square-foot museum will offer visitors a different perspective on the history of music and the Grammy Awards [ tickets ]. The museum tour will begin on the fourth floor, which will feature a gallery space filled with films, artifacts and interactive exhibits. The third floor provides a behind-the-scenes look into the art and technology of the recording process and features hands-on, in-the-studio experiences as well as an in-depth exploration of the annual Grammy Awards telecast. The second floor will house the Grammy Sound Stage and will feature an exclusive film that captures the backstage world of the 50th Annual Grammy Awards,. The second floor also is home to the museum's special exhibits gallery, where original temporary exhibits will be showcased on a rotating basis. The first traveling exhibit, "Songs of Conscience, Sound of Freedom," will explore the role of music as a political force in society.The museum also will feature educational and public programs including music classes for children; mentoring and question-and-answer sessions with visiting artists; lectures with music industry veterans; film screenings; and concert series and artist showcases. The museum also has developed partnerships with local colleges and universities to offer special programs and internships to students working toward a career in music.The museum, which officially opens to the public Dec. 6, will be located within the L.A. Live sports, entertainment and residential district located across the street from the Staples Center.

Jessica Simpson splits with footy star

Pop star Jessica Simpson has split from American football star Tony Romo, sources have claimed.

The With You singer and the sportsman have reportedly ended their romance after Tony was overheard telling friends he is single again.

A source said: “They’re over. Tony told pals he’s back on the singles market.”

When Dallas Cowboys star Tony was questioned about the split, he fumed: "I'm not talking about Jessica."

Jessica’s dad, Joe Simpson, refused to confirm the split, saying: "I don't know anything about Tony and Jessica."

Although a representative for the couple denied they had broken up, sources insist they are no longer together.

At the weekend, Tony partied at Chicago club Manor and was surrounded by a string of beautiful women.

It was also reported Jessica went on a drinking binge after discovering ex-boyfriend John Mayer is dating Jennifer Aniston.

The blonde beauty, her best friend Cacee Cobb and Cacee's boyfriend Donald Faison reportedly spent four hours drinking at California's Mexicali Cocina Cantina restaurant, according to internet gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

At the end of the session, Jessica was said to be so drunk she had to call her mother Tina to pick her up and drive her home.

The Whale Music Concert

If anyone can lay claim to the title of "Nigh Canadian Band Ever", the Rheostatics sure can prepare a compelling case, with songs about hockey, Saskatchewan, Canadian painters, and with brood versions of songs by other Canadian artists (Gordon Lightfoot, Jane Siberry). Of course, being loved by Canada's top-selling band, the Tragically Hip, doesn't hurt either.

The Rheostatics were formed in 1980 in Etobicoke, Ontario, when the members of the band were still too cy Young to deglutition in the clubs where they played. Two early tapes were released below the name Rheostatics and the Trans Canada Soul Patrol, simply according to cycle guitarist/vocalist Dave Bidini, copies are selfsame rare and fans plausibly "shouldn't regular bother" nerve-wracking to produce ahold of them.

After a few early personnel changes, the ring finally gelled with the lineup of Bidini, lead guitarist/vocalist Martin Tielli, bassist/vocalist Tim Vesely and drummer Dave Clark. The first prescribed Rheostatics liberation was 1987's Sterling Hits. Though a shoot at college radio and on latenight CBC computer programming, the independent album wasn't much of a commercial success, though it spawned the cult pip "The Ballad of Wendel Clark Parts I & II." Melville came out after a four-year break, and showed a majuscule musical festering; where Sterling Hits was jangling and clumsy, Melville was accomplished and confident. This album too showed the isthmus stretch forbidden into thirster, more complex songs with less established lyrical affair.

Whale Music followed in 1992, continuing the direction started on Herman Melville, only with stronger material and better musicianship. The record album was named after the novel by Paul Quarrington, around an eccentric recluse named Desmond Howl wHO created symphonious pop out masterpieces in his basement studio. After a mind to Whale Music, it's hard to imagine whatever other band more up to the chore of reproducing Howl's act, which is on the button wherefore Quarrington hired the band to indite the soundtrack for the film of Whale Music. Thus, when the Whale Music soundtrack came stunned in 1994, the lot was in the funny place of having two albums with exactly the like call. Though mostly implemental, the soundtrack album spawned an existent hit single, "Claire."

Later a shakedown period of time with new drummer and multi-instrumentalist Don Kerr, the Rheostatics were commissioned by the National Gallery of Canada to indite a 40-minute piece of music observance the painters the Group of Seven. Confounding expectations later the pop treasure "Claire," this generally instrumental man became their succeeding album, Music Inspired by the Group of Seven, with the band back on the Drog label. Shortly later, the more pop-oriented record album The Blue Hysteria brought the band back into familiar (in time eclecticist) territory.

For many fans, the 1997 release of Double Live was like a dreaming add up true. While the band hadn't always achieved much commercial success with their albums, they had achieved a great deal of deference and critical acclaim for their live shows, both from fans and other musicians. Much of the hitch supporting The Blue Hysteria was an possible action one-armed bandit on the Tragically Hip's cross-country spell. Neverland Ranch could be on the market

An American court filing has said that Michael Jackson's home, Neverland Ranch, could be put up for sale at a public auction next month.
If the pop star is unable to pay the $24m he still owes on the property, the court will put his home on the market.
Jackson closed down areas of the 1,100 hectare (2,800 acre) ranch in 2006 in a bid to reduce costs on the property.
He also made the majority of his staff redundant but kept on a skeleton staff to run the parts of the estate that he kept open.
Financial Title Co filed the notice of trustee's sale with Santa Barbara County Superior Court yesterday, setting the auction date for 19 March.
